Week 72- Sorrow but also joy because of the Plan of Salvation
Januray 25, 2021
This week has been very busy, powerful, full of sadness, but also full of joy.
Tuesdsy morning we recieved news that Jared Riddoch (a missionary from my mission that had just returned home a month ago) and his fiancé passed away in a tragic car accident. It really hit me. Such a horrible thing to happen. I loved elder Riddoch. I had the privelage of serving with him for 5 months. He made us laugh so much and was a piano genius. We also was so humble and loving and genuine. He also made great sourdough bread haha. It made me wonder if the plan of salvation was really true. (The plan that god has for us that answers the questions of where we came from, why we are here, and where we are going)
I was able to teach the plan of salvation several times since, and I am here to say that I know that it's true. God really is there and I know Elder Riddoch has returned home. We had some of the most powerful lessons this week. As my companion and I taught people what we believe it was so much more powerful and personal. I am so grateful to know of this plan for us. To be able to have hope that we will see our loved ones again.
As I was driving around on Tuesday at night I was looking at all the cars and people and wondering how many of them are experiencing a tragedy? Or have hearts weighed down with burdens and sorrow? Probably more than we'd like to think. And these people are going through it alone. They aren't aware that God is there to help, and to lift, and to give hope and peace in our most challenging times. That's why I'm here... To help show people that they are never alone. To give them the opportunity to turn to the one that loves them most.
While it was a hard week. I still felt joy. A simpler joy. The joy of feeling full. The joy of feeling peace. The joy in knowing that God loves me and everyone else. Joy felt alongside sadness and pain. We were able to serve so many homeless people this week and I feel as though I have been able to be filled with more love than I ever have at this challenging time.
I know this email has been a bit different this week but I want you all to know, whether you believe in God or not that you are loved. His love has no boundaries. It has no end. No matter who you are, what you have done, it doesn't matter to him. He cares about the here and now. He knows who you can become.
I love you all and I hope you have a really good week :)
Love,
Sister Clement
