Week 81- The Last Email

March 30, 2021 Well this is my final email! I know I havent written one in a long time. It has been such a wild journey but one that I would never trade for anything! It hasn't been the easiest but it has been super rewarding. I will be talking more about my experiences in church on April 11th! I have been so grateful to have been able to serve the people of Canada and Thailand on my misison! My testimony is simple. I know Christ lives and I know he loves. And we can live and love as he did. Have a great week!! Sister Clement

Week 78- Keeping Busy

March 8, 2021 Wow this week was crazy!! We went on some beautiful walks, did some volunteering at the salvation army and had a ton of lessons! Our hike last week led to some publicity! Now if you search up stoney Hill Regional Park, Sister lasso will be the cover photo! We have no idea how that happened but it's pretty funny lol. We were shook when we saw it.
We also got to have one of the leaders of our church come and speak to us. How was so cool and I learned a lot. I learned that it's important to find joy in the journey and that love is the most important thing. If we don't love others how can we expect to help them, or serve them, or truly help them feel the love of God?! I hope you all have a good week!! (I got my flight plans this past week too which was scary. It has come so fast!!)

Week 77 - Faith and Fog

March 2, 2021 Written by her companion, Sister Lasso A few days ago we decided to go hiking. As we got closer to the hike we saw thick fog covering the road. We still decided to walk along the trail after praying to be able to have some sunshine. It turned out that the fog was so thick that we couldn't see "the view" at the summit. We finished the hike and decided to wait in the car, hoping that the sun would come out. Some time later, we saw the sky was clearing up. We ran to the top of the hike again to see the sun shining and the clouds drifting away. We got what we prayed for, just long enough for us to enjoy the view and see the clouds come back as we headed back to the car.
Life is like that. Sometimes we can't really see what is ahead of us, we feel lost, there's fog everywhere. But then we have the chance to turn to our Father in heaven and ask for guidance and help. We need to keep walking, acting, trusting that He will lead us to where we need to go, having faith that one day the fog will depart and we'll be able to see blue skies. From my personal experience, blue skies are much more beautiful after seeing the clouds. Faith and works can move mountains... and fog.
1-2 The hike before and after we prayed to see the sun!! (god really can perform miracles) 3. The hike! 4. The hike ! 5. We finally started getting food from members! 6. Bubble beards!

Week 74- Teaching and Cooking!

February 8, 2021 Hello everyone!! I hope you have had a good past couple of weeks. We have been crazy busy over here in Nanaimo! We set a goal 4 days before January was over to teach 100 lessons in January because we realized we were already at 73! We had more than that planned for the rest of the 4 days but so many cancelled :( we hit 99 and it was amazing. A few months ago the sisters in this area were struggling to have one lesson... They put in so much work and effort and so did missionaries before them and is I feel so blessed to be able to come here and see this change!! We really do owe it to them.
One day when we had like no time we somehow managed to cook 4 soups, 3 thick lasagnas, and 2 batches of brownies!! We were cooking until 10pm but it's fine, it needed to be done. The coolest thing with the meal prep that we've seen is that people have been helping others through it. Most of the people we've helped have done it for others. So we are helping people help people! And that's what will bring them the most happiness. Well that and Jesus haha!! But yeah it's been really fun and my cooking skills have definitely increased. Sister Beck has taught me a ton. It was sunny two days this week which is amazing. I really do miss the sun.
Well this transfer has seriously flown by, we have seen so many miracles. Next week will be transfer news!! (pré sure I'm Gunna stay but I'm excited to see who my next comp will be)

Week 72- Sorrow but also joy because of the Plan of Salvation

Januray 25, 2021 This week has been very busy, powerful, full of sadness, but also full of joy. Tuesdsy morning we recieved news that Jared Riddoch (a missionary from my mission that had just returned home a month ago) and his fiancé passed away in a tragic car accident. It really hit me. Such a horrible thing to happen. I loved elder Riddoch. I had the privelage of serving with him for 5 months. He made us laugh so much and was a piano genius. We also was so humble and loving and genuine. He also made great sourdough bread haha. It made me wonder if the plan of salvation was really true. (The plan that god has for us that answers the questions of where we came from, why we are here, and where we are going) I was able to teach the plan of salvation several times since, and I am here to say that I know that it's true. God really is there and I know Elder Riddoch has returned home. We had some of the most powerful lessons this week. As my companion and I taught people what we believe it was so much more powerful and personal. I am so grateful to know of this plan for us. To be able to have hope that we will see our loved ones again. As I was driving around on Tuesday at night I was looking at all the cars and people and wondering how many of them are experiencing a tragedy? Or have hearts weighed down with burdens and sorrow? Probably more than we'd like to think. And these people are going through it alone. They aren't aware that God is there to help, and to lift, and to give hope and peace in our most challenging times. That's why I'm here... To help show people that they are never alone. To give them the opportunity to turn to the one that loves them most. While it was a hard week. I still felt joy. A simpler joy. The joy of feeling full. The joy of feeling peace. The joy in knowing that God loves me and everyone else. Joy felt alongside sadness and pain. We were able to serve so many homeless people this week and I feel as though I have been able to be filled with more love than I ever have at this challenging time.
I know this email has been a bit different this week but I want you all to know, whether you believe in God or not that you are loved. His love has no boundaries. It has no end. No matter who you are, what you have done, it doesn't matter to him. He cares about the here and now. He knows who you can become. I love you all and I hope you have a really good week :) Love, Sister Clement
