Dog Attack and Celebrating Two Nations

July 6, 2020

So another week for the books!! (I didn't write in my journal a single time this week so I really can't remember anything.... I will catch up on it though)

Funnies:

We got stood up by someone we met on facebook because they were celebrating an early birthday lol...whatever that means. Sister greeenwood and I had a good laugh about that. People honestly can come up with the best excuses.

So this happened last week but I forgot to write about it! So we were over at this members house and she was telling us her conversion story, like it really was a beautiful and awesome story. But I was petting her dog that was on my lap and then all of the sudden it started going berserk. Like CRAZY. Trying to jump all over me and nip at me everytime I would try to touch it. This lady was not noticing AT ALL. Because she was so into her story LOL. So sister greenwood looks back at me struggling and then is trying so hard not to laugh. Like we are both fying of laughter on the inside because this woman had no clue what was going on.

An abandoned car from our hike today!

Just a beautiful view from a members house!
Comp study at the beach because why not!

Random Tidbits:
Canada Day Shenanigans

Well Canada day!!! We went over to a members house and they had a big barbeque while social distancing it was so fun!

Thai night! (I even wore the most thai dress I could find lol)

We celebrated the fourth of July with a thai night!! And I made papaya salad and it turned out super good!! We made a bunch of curries that I had brought back and we were with one of my favourite families in the area so it was super fun.
The work:

We have had some amazing lessons this week. So many of our friends are progressing and really have a strong desire to follow Jesus Christ and learn more about him.

Spiritual thought:

We were talking with a member the other day about how kind of at different stages of life you need to redefine who you are, and kind of re-center on the fact that you are a child of God. And the implications of that. The divine potential that gives us. For example, when I get home off of a mission I kind of have to get into a different groove, or someone who has had kids for 20 years and is now an empty nester. These stages can be hard but one thing always stays constant. The fact that our Heavenly father is with us every step of the way and that we are his child! We never have to do this alone, and we can get through any stage of life, and any hardship THROUGH Him!

Love you all!

Week 42- Still in Vernon, BC

June 29, 2020
Hello!!

Funnies:

The only downside about serving in a North American mission is that not TOO many funny crazy things happen. Like of course a lot of weird facebook finding moments and stuff but its just not the same so I'm sorry to disappoint!!
i fed a horse

One thing was that our neighbor's crazy little squirrel dog got into our apartment and started running around like a crazy person so we had to chase him out.

Random Tidbits:

I got my phone!!!! So now i can take nice photos..its awesome

We took a lot of long drives this week to visit members and the drives were so sick. We played good music and the views were so beautiful. Honestly its such a good time to just refresh!

We borrowed some members' bikes and went on a nice long bike ride today! Such a good trail only 10 min from our house!

the work:

We have been able to find so many new people this week from the members! One in particular he is so amazing and wants to change his life around. He is super determined and I am so excited to start teaching him! We have been super busy which is a good problem! Its been really cool to teach in English! I can fully express myself.

Spiritual thought:

I want to speak about repentance. Because of Jesus Christ we all can move on from our mistakes. Satan wants us thinking we have to carry them throughout life and constantly feel that guilt but I know if we turn to the Savior, we can find peace. Sometimes it's really hard to accept the gift of forgiveness, but until we do that we are holding ourselves back! So accept the gift. Move forward, and love Jesus Christ even more. You can change, and He will help you.

I love you all and Have a good week!

Week 41

June 22, 2020

Hey Hey Hey!!

Funnies:

We offered to help an older man with his garden and he said "yeah! Just come in your bikinis and you can get a good tan! Don't worry, my backyard is very private" Uhhhh we laughed awkwardly and politely declined the bikinis idea but said we could come in our dresses and that our arms would get really tan!! Gotta love people.

Random Tidbits:

It was sister greenwoods birthday this week! We had an awesome day. We taught some people, went on a nice walk, and some awesome members had us over for dinner at their campsite and we had a fire and stuff! It was super fun. Although for some reason my allergies got super bad there. Like my eyes were red and puffy and I was sneezing SO MUCH! Good times.
She's 23!!! So proud

We see a ton of deer everywhere all the time which is fun.

We also have started doing yoga on Sunday mornings in our beautiful backyard and it's been hard bc both of us are so not flexible and its hard for us to stay serious but its been a blast.

We had exchanges so i got to go to Kelowna for a day and it was so fun! We went on such a nice walk with a great view and read our scriptures up there.

I love the members here so much. They are all so real. There is no show with anyone...I love it. The families are crazy and fun and quirky in all their own ways. Reminds me a lot of my family at home aha.

The Hilsmanns! (they are such an awesome family)

The view from our house! You can actually see our house in this pic, its the one on the left

The work:

We are teaching some really amazing people right now. And we are really focusing on the members and helping them as well. We have so much work to do this transfer and we are really excited. I am hoping sister greenwood doesn't get transferred next wednesday because we are on fire over here!! I want at least a full transfer with her lol.

Spiritual thought:

This week has had its challenges for sure but I really want to say that anytime we are willing to come unto Christ, he will be there. he will meet us where we are at and begin to lift us up. No matter where we've been or who we were, he is there and we truly can change because of Him.

I love you all!!

From Thailand to home to Vernon, BC

June 15, 2020

Hey everyone!

So I am back on my mission and back to business as usual. Honestly it so nice to see my family and friends while being home but I am happy to be out. It was pretty hard to leave again and was probably the hardest goodbye of my life but God has a plan for all of us and sometimes we just need to trust that we are doing exactly what we are supposed to be doing. It's hard though haha.

All the people we flew with
Subway Lunch with Sister Higham! (the other sister that came to vernon with me)

So I arrived in Vancouver at 9 in the morning on wednesday and got to meet the mission president who is super nice! I also got to meet a sister who served in Tahiti (Zachs mission) which was super cool, and I forgot my phone at home but I hope to get that back soon and they have loaned me one for now! We had some trainings, a meal and then they told us who our companions were and where we were going!. Because I was taking a plane to my area my companion was not there and I got to spend another night in Vancouver. We flew in the morning and let me tell you, coming over the Okanagan river was soooooo beautiful. It is gorgeous here! And a huge tender mercy is that Sydney murphy is here too!! So we've been seeing a lot of each other which is really nice.

We are in phase 1 of missionary service here which means we can go into homes if we are invited and social distancing!!!! It has been so nice to get some human interaction and meet some of the members here. They are so kind to us!

My companion is Sister Greenwood and she is from Utah! Shes super energetic and outgoing and we are both pumped to do the work here. It'll be a good but tough transfer. We have already seen so many miracles which is awesome!

A super nice thing is that we go on hikes every day to just get out of the house and let some energy out! Like I said it's so beautiful here and so peaceful.

Hike!

Such a nice hike

Sister Murphy

beautiful

All the missionaries were talking about how small my apartment was going to be and I kept trying to tell them it couldn't have possibly been smaller than my apartment in thailand but they didn't believe me haha. When I first saw the place my first thought was "oh my gosh this is huge!". We actually have a separate room for sleeping and a bathroom that you can move around in! I'm living the dream up in here. We also drive too. Honestly it's a pretty cushy mission.

Oh and I introduced myself to a family as Rachael by accident because I'm still not used to calling myself sister clement again lol.

Well I'm still trying to adjust and keep a positive attitude, but I really am grateful to be here. I hope you all have an awesome week!

Love you,

Sister Clement
