January 29, 2020

Hey there everyone! I forgot to write my email so it's going to be super short I'm sorry!

Transfers!! Sister yamma is moving to roi et and will be an STL! (the leader over the sisters in our area) she's going to do so well :) I will be getting a new companion and she is Lilli Jensen from Utah!! That'll def be a change lol, I'm super excited though.

Going to miss her so much!!

Typical chair transfer pic (the number of chairs is the number of transfers you have left)

Funnies:

We had a less active do our make up (she loves doing make up) and whenever we see her her make up is always soooo good!! But then when she did ours she just went nuts... It was super hard not to laugh when she was doing sister yammas makeup aha

Random tidbits:

Hospital visits for sister yamma!

Typical esan food

FHE one night ! (Family Home Evening)

We went to a school to teach English and afterwards they all wanted to take pictures with me and then at the end I went to give them high and when I gave them a high five they went nuts! Like jumping up and down and screaming and bragging to all of their friends! They were so excited to even just give a high give to a white person aha.

Teaching at the school!

We had switch offs and I was comps with the sister from America which was super fun, and they came to Udon so we didn't even have to travel!

We ate breakfast at a watt (Buddhist temple) one morning... I don't really know why, but the elders invited us. We were supposed to do service I think but we just ate. It was a little weird

For sister vangs bday we all wore matching dresses that were all one size and it fit all of us! Def a sisterhood of the travelling pants moment.

Spiritual Thought:

God really does guide us and is with us every step of the way. Recently we made a goal to find some people who had stopped coming to church because there are a lot!! We just wanted to see how they were doing and show them some love. The next day we found this older man who has been sick for 4 years... Really really sick, half of his body doesn't work. When we went to his house he started crying, and then when we prayed with him and for him he just started sobbing. It was such a wonderful moment and the love that was in that room was so strong. He was so grateful that we had come and it wasn't even our plan. God led us to this man, he showed him that he was not forgotten, and showed us that we need to follow God's will. When we listen to the spirit, often enough we are answers to other peoples prayers.

I love you all so much! Have a good week :)

Randomly Saw an Elephant Walking Down the Street

January 20, 2020

A flower field we went to today

funnies:

yeah we were on our way back from Roi-et and there was just some elephant walking down the street! So wild! Definitely a woah I'm actually in Thailand moment

a funny thai culture thing is that they put everything in the fridge, I mean everything. from pasta (like the dried pasta noodles lol) to sugar, oats, and just everything. The other day I opened the fridge and found bbq chips there. so funny

This really really old man at church who is probably 3/4 blind at this point randomly had this rubber snake in his pocket and he was so proud of it, He kept scaring kids with it...so cute.

The old man with his snake

Random Tidbits:

Elder Anderson unfortunately was unable to come to Roi-et. His wife was really sick so they had to go home early :(. We all still had a great time there though! we did zone conference and watched his talk from when he spoke in Bangkok! I also got to see a bunch of people from the mtc so it was super awesome.

district reunion!

I finally got my christmas present that Zach's mom Leah sent me at the end of october!!

We went to go volunteer at a school with kids that have special needs and they were sooo cute. funny story though, we thought we were just going there and playing with them, colouring and stuff like that in their normal classes, but when we got there they got all the kids and brought them into this like auditorium thing and had us lead activities for an hour!! We were totally not prepared lol, the elders planned this one so i shouldn't really be that surprised aha. Ity was overall a really cool and good experience!

At the school!

we did a service project taking tape off plastic bags for 3 and a half hours \! super fun! we had the Laos elders there too so it was awesome.

Us with the Laos elders

we got to see a dance competition to support an interested person and some members! It was sooo cool.

a random pic i took while in a tuk tuk

Spiritual Thought:

Elder anderson talked about how in order to stand strong in times of trial we need to love christ, and have christ deep within us. It is not enough to love the church, or love the members, we need to love Christ. He is the most important. And if we can trust in Him, have a relationship with HIm, have faith in Him, and love Him, then we can overcome everything through Him.

I love you all! Have a great week :)

Happy New Year! And an inevitable tuk tuk flip!

January 5, 2020

P-day (Preparation day) fun!

Funnies:

our tuk tuk tipped, the driver took too sharp of a turn and we went off a curb and then it flipped lol, sister yamma fell on me but we didn't get too hurt! I just have a big bruise on my arm and she just has little bruises and scratches everywhere aha. Definitely a miracle. Everyone was shook. So funny

One of our drivers friends thought that sister yamma was his wife and that I was a sister (our driver is like 55) haha

We were in a neighborhood and decided to walk it and get to know people but it was new years day so no one was out and when we came back to our bikes there was a giant lime green and black striped snake on sister Yamma's bike so she freaked out of course, and then a bunch of dogs started barking and running for us so we skidadeled (don't know how to spell that) outta there super quickly

The massive concert right outside our apartment building

We had snow in Thailand!! Jk it was just foam

Random Tidbits:

I woke up one morning with 17 mosquito bites on one arm and a bunch on my feet. Goes to show how tired I am everyday, I sleep wayyy too deeply

We went over to the sisters house in branch 1 for new years! We ate A TON of food it was amazing and just had a partttyyy (don't worry, only until 10:30 ðŸ˜‰

Our new years feast at the sisters house in branch 1

I stepped in what I thought was solid mud until I sunk

Sister yamma ordered fish one day thinking it would come With a bunch of other stuff too (it usually does) but it came and it was just a MASSIVE grilled fish. Eyes, skin, bones, everything

Our ward new years party consisted of people 70+ doing kareoke and dancing. It was lit. We also ate a ton of food there too.

At that party I learned how to do traditional Thai dancing so that was pretty cool! The old ladies we all correcting my form and trying to bend my fingers in ways they couldn't bend lol.

With member at his little fish/lobster farm (idk what it's called in English) he built that structure himself!

English class in ทุ่งฟน

The work:

This week has had its ups and downs. All the people we are teaching have had things happen this week that have not been good and my heart is a little broken for them right now. I hope things will get better for them but I also know that there are a lot more people that are ready and need to hear our message!

Spiritual Thought:

This week I was struggling a little bit with the thought of why I'm here in Udorn. I know I'm here for a reason but I felt because I can't speak the language that well and I can't teach super well that I havent really made much of a difference. But then I met a man on a bus, who was from England and had been living in Thailand for 7 years. He was super super rude at first, but then I continued talking to him and had this feeling that I should ask him if he's happy. He then proceeded to tell me that he has thoughts that he wants to commit suicide every single day. (he's sick, and has no friends or family that he's close too). I was shocked. We continued talking and his whole demeanor changed. He said that that day he doesn't feel like he wants to commit suicide. He had a little more hope. I think he just needed a friend that day. Needed someone to show him a little bit of love. And I think that was God's way of showing me that I am needed here and that with the help of God I can make a difference. God really does know us and is looking out for us always.

Have a great week everyone!

Love,

Sister Clement

Our tuk tuk driver has been coming to more and more lessons it's amazing, he's slowly starting to open up!

Our tuk tuk driver!! He's so cute

We went with a couple kids to hang out pictures of Jesus with a little note from us! They were so so cute.

Love my little buddies!

We made a garden and cleaned up someone's house as a service project and it was so nice and she was so happy after!

Spiritual Thought:

God loves you and will always accept you no matter what stage of life you are at, no matter what you've done, as long as you want to be better. As long as we are willing to have faith that through Jesus Christ we can become better, weaknesses CAN become strengths!

Roi Et, Thailand Zone Conference to hear Elder Andersen

Love you all and have a great week!

P. S. It looks like I wear this dress (only cost $10!) a lot but it was just one day that we took a lot of pictures haha
